Participles and usage · Μετοχές και χρήση

  • The perfective series is είπα / πω / πει. Λέγομαι also means to be called or named, using the present stem. Perfective passive ειπώθηκε / λέχθηκε and ειπωθεί / λεχθεί normally refer to words or statements; only their ordinary third-person use is shown.
  • Λέγω and its personal forms are more formal alternatives. The ordinary adverbial form is λέγοντας.
  • Forms with έχω describe completed events; είμαι + an agreeing participle describes a state. They are not interchangeable in every context. Dependent forms used with έχω are not standalone infinitives.
